Reinforce Service - Learning Across Curriculum

Reinforce service-learning lessons and activities by tying them directly to day-to-day curriculum. Our newest Action Team from Cold Spring Harbor, N. Y. is leading the way and realizing the benefits.

This Action Team has planned a screening of the award-winning, critically-acclaimed film “The Fat Boy Chronicles”, directed by Jason Winn, to students, faculty and parents in order to generate awareness of the films primary topic areas: bullying, self-esteem, nutrition and wellness. They will also conduct a panel discussion following the screening to reinforce the messages.

Furthermore, the Action Team will later conduct a Poetry Contest designed to foster self-awareness skills for K-12 students…login and incorporate this invaluable resource into your classroom!

Although the film targets students in grades 6-12, cross-curriculum content is available for K-12! Below is a sampling which includes video clips from “The Fat Boy Chronicles” film and associated teacher resources from Sleeping Bear Press.
